SWAKOPMUND, June 6 – A security guard allegedly shot and wounded a man believed to be acting suspiciously in Hanganeni Street in Mondesa, Swakopmund in the early hours of Sunday.
According to Inspector Ileni Shapumba’s police report, G4S security guards were on patrol in Hanganeni Street when they came across a man at about 03h20 who allegedly started running away upon spotting them.
The guards became suspicious and one of them allegedly fired a shot that accidentally stuck and injured the adult victim in the left thigh.
The security guards took the victim to Mondesa Police Station after the incident, where they reported the matter.
The victim was then taken to the Swakopmund State Hospital for medical treatment.
He was discharged from the hospital and is currently in a stable condition.
The victim has not yet opened a case. Police investigations into the incident continue. – Namibia Daily News
