SWAKOPMUND, 22 SEP – The body of a 75-year-old Austrian national was discovered in his house at Swakopmund on Friday morning after he allegedly shot himself.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in Erongo Region’s Detective Inspector Daniel Gurirab confirmed the incident in a report on Friday.
According to NamPol, it is suspected that the deceased, who had permanent residence status in Namibia, shot himself in the chest with a revolver, which was found next to him by a family nurse.
Additional information also indicates that the deceased was suffering from an undisclosed illness for a long period of time and had previously tried to commit suicide.
The deceased was declared dead on the spot by a medical doctor and no foul play is suspected.
The body of the deceased has been taken to the mortuary and a post-mortem will be conducted.
His next of kin have not yet informed as he has no relatives in Namibia.
Police investigations continue.
