ONGWEDIVA, 02 JUL – The 2018 Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) gala dinner held here on Saturday raised over N.dollars 924 000 for the hosting of the popular event from 24 August to 03 September.
Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) remains the main sponsor of the OATF, and pledged N.dollars 350 000 during the dinner. First National Bank and Standard Bank each pledged N.dollars 150 000.
Announcing the MTC sponsorship, the company’s spokesperson, John Ekongo said the OATF grew in stature and prominence and that it rightfully deserves the accolades to be classified as the best exhibition and trade fair both in economic size and brand value in the country.
He said of the sponsorship, N.dollars 150 000 will be paid directly into the OATF coffers and the remaining N.dollars 200 000 will pay the invoices of other costs the OATF will incur during the hosting of the show.
The rest of the total sponsorship amount was pledged by various companies and individuals who attended the gala dinner.
Main speaker at the event, Leake Hangala of the Hangala Group said the OATF has become a symbol of an economically vibrant independent Namibia and a barometer of the country’s economy.
“It is indeed a fixture on our national calendar, and a feature of our national economy,” Hangala told those present.
