WINDHOEK, Feb. 16 — Namibia’s annual Nedbank Cycle Challenge ended on Sunday in the country’s capital Windhoek after a year’s absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of 750 players from all over the country participated in the 20km, 30km, 60km, and Elite 100km races.
“During these challenging times, it is pleasing to see that sporting events have resumed again,” said Agnes Tjongarero, Minister of Sport, Youth, and National Service in Namibia. He added that cycling is in fact the best sports discipline during these challenging times.
Alex Miller won the men’s Elite 100 km championship, and Vera Losser won the women’s Elite 100 km championship.
The race is believed to be first held in 1986 and has become one of the most important cycling competitions in the country. (Xinhua)
