USAKOS, July 22 – A 63-year-old man was killed at the scene after a vehicle he was driving collided head-on with a truck this morning.
According to Erongo police, the accident occurred at about 02h00, about 30 km before Usakos, on the B2 road from Arandis.
The sedan which was travelling from Arandis towards Usakos collided head-on with a white truck loaded with charcoal that was driving towards Arandis.
The sedan vehicle immediately burst into flames on impact while the driver was still trapped inside the car.
Fire Brigade from Arandis Town Council arrived at the scene to put out the fire and the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics.
The truck driver (52 years) was taken to Usakos state hospital for medical attention but was in a stable condition.
The deceased’s body was taken to the Usakos State hospital mortuary.
He could not be identified because his next of kin had not yet been informed of his death.
Police are still investigating the cause of the collision.
