ONGWEDIVA, 15 SEP – A 59-year-old man appeared in the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder on Thursday after he allegedly shot a man suspected of repeatedly entering his homestead for unknown reasons.
Fillemon Erastus stands accused of shooting the 24-year-old Hedimbi Simon in the head with a pistol at Oshikwiyu village in the Oukwanyama traditional district’s Efululula area.
Warrant Officer Kaume Iitumba of the Namibian Police Force’s Public Relations Unit in the Ohangwena Region told Nampa on Friday Simon died on the spot.
He said he allegedly entered Erastus’s homestead by jumping over its border wall around 22h00 on Tuesday.
He was thought to be the same person who repeatedly did so since 03 September.
“Erastus told the police at Ongha on 10 September an unknown man jumped over the wall to enter in his house at night for unknown purposes,” Iitumba said.
Erastus was released on bail of N.dollars 5 000.
