Rundu, Aug. 10 – Businessman Thomas Garosab and his wife Loise Garosas have decided to give back to the community in which they stay as a sign of love and appreciation for the people they live with.
The couple runs a poultry project as well as a cuca shop in Rundu.
Garosas said they started this charity project in 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in the country and they donated food and blankets at Mabushe, about 55km east of Rundu.
Since then the couple has continued helping the people of the community by donating different items such as toiletries, food and blankets.
The couple has also decided to help pupils at Mabushe Combine School, donating sanitary pads, lotions, washing powder, candles for studying, toothbrushes and roll-ons.
On Tuesday the couple donated toiletries to 30 pupils at the school.
“We’re not rich,” said Garosas. “We’re mere individuals that see the importance of giving and caring,” she said.
She said they will continue the project because it is important to her and her husband and appealed to well-wishers to contribute to the project as it will help a lot of vulnerable children in the country.
“Anything you can donate is fine. It can be clothes, money, food, supplies or anything and we will appreciate it very much,” said Garosas.
The pupils were very happy with the donation and expressed hope to see the couple again soon.
Filippus Magano, a teacher at the school said she was inspired by what the couple had done for the school. She said most pupils were vulnerable and it was unfortunate that out of the 703 learners only 30 benefitted.
She urged more donors to come and help the needy children. Well-wishers can
