WINDHOEK, Feb. 1 – Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana whom, until earlier today, was Namibia’s Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration, was sacked by President Hage Geingob.
A letter dated 1 February and regarding “Termination of Tenure as Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration,” Geingob exercised his Presidential powers according to Article 32(6) of the Constitution of the Republic of Namibia.
“The termination of your appointment should in now way be interpreted as a blight on the immense personal sacrifices, as well as the immeasurable contribution you have made in the interest of the Republic of Namibia, during our struggle for independence, as well as after independence,” read the letter.
In addition, “These are feats for which the people of Namibia shall always hold you in the highest regard. I wish you success in your future endeavours,” the letter concluded. – NDN Staffer
