OSHAKATI, Aug. 8 — Oshakati Golf Club in the northern town witnessed an exhilarating display of skill and talent on Saturday, 5 August, during the sixth round of the 2023 Nedbank for Good Series. Emerging as victors were Antonius Amugongo and Eveline Shilongo, whose remarkable performances enthralled both participants and fans alike.
Amugongo showcased his prowess with an impressive 45 points, securing the top position. In second place was Eino Kamati, who accumulated 42 points, closely followed by Elifas Iimbondi in third place with 41 points. Meanwhile, Shilongo dominated the event, amassing an impressive 37 points, while Hilya Ininga secured the second spot with 27 points.
The event was hailed as a resounding success by Dan Zwiebel, the organizer, despite the Oshakati Golf Club’s modest contingent of golf members. Zwiebel expressed excitement for the growing number of golf players in Oshakati and applauded the enthusiastic turnout of both participants and spectators.
The occasion was made even more meaningful as over 400 schoolchildren participated in the mobile Rössing Foundation Laboratory, situated on-site. Engaging in a variety of experiments, the children gained valuable knowledge in physical science and mathematics. Zwiebel extended his gratitude to the local community and the Oshakati Golf Club for their support in making the event a memorable one.
The Rössing Foundation’s Executive Director, Uparura Kuvare, echoed the sentiment, praising the generous support from the Nedbank for Good Series, which facilitates the provision of science education to learners through the Mobile Laboratory.
Selma Kaulinge, the Communication and PR Manager of Nedbank Namibia, emphasized the positive impact the event had on communities. Overwhelmed by the enthusiastic participation of over 400 school learners in witnessing various scientific experiments conducted by the Rossing Foundation team, Kaulinge expressed pride in Nedbank Namibia’s continued contribution through such initiatives. She thanked all the participating golf players for their valuable contributions to the success of this round in the series.
The Nedbank for Good Series is set to continue on the following dates: Walvis Bay Golf Club on Saturday, 19 August; Rossmund Golf Course on Saturday, 26 August; Henties Bay Golf & Lifestyle Resort on Saturday, 2 September; Windhoek Golf & Country Club on Saturday, 23 September; and the final at Omeya Golf Club on Friday, 6 October.
