SWAKOPMUND, Aug. 8 – Authorities in the Erongo region are urgently appealing for public assistance in locating two dangerous inmates who managed to escape from the Swakopmund Police Station holding cells. The escape occurred on Friday, August 04, 2023, between 5:00 PM and 9:30 PM, in Swakopmund, Erongo Region.
The escaped inmates have been identified as Ralph Uiseb, a 20-year-old male facing charges of rape, and Michael Goeieman, a 31-year-old Namibian male involved in a theft case.
Inspector Ileni Shapumba has reported that the suspects devised an unknown method to remove the kitchen window located in the cells’ corridor. They then made their escape through the window, accessed the backyard by the gate, and managed to jump over the wall, disappearing from the premises.
Currently, an extensive police search is underway to locate the escaped inmates, who remain at large. Public members are urged to provide any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects. However, it is emphasized that the public should not attempt to apprehend the individuals themselves but should instead report any sightings or information to the nearest police station.
