WINDHOEK, 09 APR – A 38-year-old man died at Otjerunda village in the Kunene Region after he was stabbed Saturday night.
The Namibian Police Force’s crime investigation coordinator for Kunene, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Kanyetu said in a crime report issued Monday the incident occurred around 01h00.
The deceased has been identified as Ueripuravi Tjijeura.
It is alleged that Tjijeura and the suspect had been drinking home brew at their homestead before the incident. It is however not known what transpired between the two before the stabbing.
The suspect’s girlfriend told the police when she had gone to bed, everything seemed fine.
She was then woken up by her boyfriend, who forced her out of the hut without any explanation.
“It is then that she heard Tjijeura saying the suspect had stabbed him with a knife,” Kanyetu said.
She informed her father who was sleeping in a nearby hut, and they contacted the police.
Tjijeura succumbed to his wounds before the police arrived at the scene.
The suspect fled the scene shortly after the incident and has not yet been arrested.
