OTJIWARONGO, 17 MAR (NAMPA) – A 37-year-old man died instantly after he was bumped by a sedan vehicle on Grootfontein-Tsumeb road on Friday night.
Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa in an interview on Saturday that the man has been identified as Isaak Habeb.
Mbeha said the accident occurred at about 21h00 on Friday night when Habeb allegedly jumped out of a vehicle that gave him a lift from Grootfontein.
“When he was about to cross over the road between Grootfontein and Tsumeb near Farm Anns Hoops, a vehicle coming from the opposite direction bumped him to death,” said the police officer.
Habeb lived on Farm Anns Hoops which is situated approximately 22 kilometres north west of Grootfontein.
His next of kin have been informed of his death, Mbeha said.
A 37-year-old driver of the sedan vehicle that bumped Habeb said he was travelling from Tsumeb at the time of accident.
A culpable homicide docket has been opened at the Grootfontein Police Station and police investigations into the matter continue.
