Two die in car crash on Usakos-Arandis road


SWAKOPMUND, 04 DEC  – Two people lost their lives when the vehicle they were traveling in collided head-on with another car on the Usakos-Arandis road on Tuesday.
The accident occurred around 10h00 approximately 20 kilometres outside Usakos.
A police report issued by Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Gurirab on Tuesday said the sedan allegedly overtook another vehicle at a blind spot and collided head-on with an oncoming pick-up.
The sedan, which had four occupants including the deceased, was reportedly split into two.
“The pick-up had two occupants including the driver and both sustained injuries,” the police report said.
The deceased have been identified as the 30-year-old Leonie Camm who died upon arrival at the hospital and two-year-old King Lion Schiefer, who died on the spot.
Their next of kin have been informed and all injured passengers were taken to the Usakos State Hospital.
The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide and negligent driving. – NAMPA
