REHOBOTH, SEPT. 13 – Cricket Namibia has announced that the second edition of the Franchise T20 2018 tournament will commence in Windhoek on 29 September, with the final scheduled for 21 October.
A statement availed to Nampa on Wednesday said the tournament is structured in such a way that the sponsors will have a more ‘hands on’ approach in the running of the tournament, with each sponsor assigned a team to manage.
Four teams – the Hawks, Leopards, Warthogs and Bulldogs – will compete in the tournament.
The first edition of the tournament was called Nam Auto Car Windhoek Franchise T20, but it has since been changed to Franchise T20. It was last held in Windhoek in 2017.
“It was considered to have been a great success by organisers and participants,” the statement said.
As with the first edition, the second edition will also consist of players from the premier league and national team players with a new addition of Under-19 players. It will be used as a tool for the Under-19’s to get as much play time and exposure as possible in preparation for the 2019 World Cup Qualifiers.
