NTA to host junior tourney

WINDHOEK, 25 JUL – The Namibia Tennis Association (NTA) will host a junior tennis tournament at the Windhoek Central Tennis Club in Olympia on Friday and Saturday.
A media statement availed to this agency on Wednesday said the tournament will feature girls and boys between 10 and 18 years old from all over the country.
It said for the fourth consecutive year running, the tournament is being sponsored by Trustco Holding to a tune of N.dollars 20 000 and will see over 35 players participating.
The tournament will also see the participants gaining ranking points based on their performance, as well as qualify for the Masters Tournament at the end of the year at the same venue.
The statement added that the tournament will be played in singles games only.
Speaking to Nampa in a telephonic interview on Wednesday, NTA development officer Wellington Sibanda called upon tennis-loving Namibians to attend the tournament and support the youngsters.
“We are expecting exciting games throughout the competition. The juniors are eager to impress and book their spots in the masters competition slated for the end of the year,” he said.
