REHOBOTH, 12 JUN – The North East First Division (NEFD) will hold its extra-ordinary elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Rundu on 23 June to elect a new leadership for the next four years.
The positions to be contested include that of the chairperson and vice chairperson, as well as seven members to the executive committee.
Each club is required to send two delegates to the AGM.
Outgoing NEFD chairperson, Mpasi Haingura explained to Nampa on Tuesday that he will hand over the positions of chairperson and member to the executive committee after serving in the positions for 10 years and 12 years respectively.
“I have made my contribution to football and it is time to hand over the positions,” he said.
He served as an executive member from 2006 to 2008, five years as chairperson of the former Northern Stream First Division from 2008 and another five years as chairperson of the NEFD from 2013 to date.
He said the AGM follows a consultative meeting on 08 April this year which resolved that an extra-ordinary meeting be convened on 09 June once the league resumes for the second round.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances the logistical arrangements for the meeting could not be finalise in time. We as the executive committee sent out letters to all the member clubs informing them of the envisaged date,” Haingura said.
In a letter seen by Nampa on Tuesday, teams are notified of the due date for nominations as the 16th June 2018.
He called on all teams to submit their nominations to the league administrator, Daniel Namwira, who serves as the secretary of the electoral committee.
Namwira will take care of the administrative matters and will also act in a consultative capacity to the electoral committee.
Appointed members of the electoral committee who will oversee the election process are Vernon Mutimanias Lutibezi as chairperson, Jonas Mbuna Kangumbe as the vice chairperson and Fransiska Thikerete as member.
Substitute members in case the electoral committee members are absent are Ricardo Mukonda, Alexander Kudhumo and Faustinus Shikukutu.
