WINDHOEK, 23 JUL – Namibia will seek to enhance cooperation with Jamaica in many areas during the three-day State visit of Jamaican Prime Minister, Andrew Michael Holness to Namibia.
According to a media statement released by State House on Sunday, the areas earmarked for this purpose are fisheries, education, logistics, tourism and sport.
Holness, who is in the company of other Jamaican government officials, arrived in Namibia on Sunday and bi-lateral talks are expected to take place here on Monday.
A Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of political consultations between the two countries is expected to be signed as well.
Namibia and Jamaica established diplomatic relations on 27 August 1990 and a cooperation Framework Agreement between the two countries was signed in 1995.
On Wednesday, the Jamaican delegation will proceed to Johannesburg, South Africa, to meet with global leaders at the 10th BRICS Summit at the Sandton Convention Centre.
The BRICS nations include Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
