REHOBOTH, 29 NOV – A police officer arrested in July for allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend, made his fifth appearance in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Samuel Jantze appeared before Magistrate Verinao Kamahene on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The case was postponed to 25 February 2019 for plea and trial.
He is out on bail of N$1 000.
It is alleged that Jantze, a constable at the Mariental Police Station, on 28 July assaulted Eva Kisting at the Mariental State Hospital’s nurses’ home.
He allegedly hit Kisting, who was eight months pregnant at the time, with his fists and a belt before damaging property near her room.
Public Prosecutor Anita Meyer represented the State in the matter. – NAMPA
