WINDHOEK, Dec. 16 — Namibia‘s non-diamond mineral revenues surpassed diamond revenues for the first time, reinforcing a structural shift toward a more diversified and resilient mining revenue base, according to a report released on Monday.
This transition highlights the growing importance of uranium and gold to the national fiscus and export revenue, the Chamber of Mines of Namibia said in the Monthly Mining Update for October 2025.
“Record gold prices and strong uranium output continue to offset global weaknesses in diamonds and base metals,” said Veston Malango, chief executive officer of the Chamber of Mines.
Malango said that amid efforts to deepen investor engagement and work with the government to clarify the policy environment, the sector remains well-positioned to drive growth, sustain jobs, and support Namibia‘s long-term economic transformation.
According to Malango, mining companies continued to make substantial contributions to national development in 2025, particularly in the health sector.
Notable initiatives include Rossing Uranium’s 1.25 million Namibian dollar (about 74,000 U.S. dollars) investment in upgrading public health facilities and the donation of a fully equipped patient transport bus; QKR Navachab Gold Mine’s 15 million Namibian dollar investment in the new Karibib medical facility; and Langer Heinrich Uranium’s donation of two ambulances and support toward establishing a breast cancer clinic at the Swakopmund State Hospital.
Additionally, Swakop Uranium is progressing with its 170 million U.S. dollar desalination plant, expected to create around 1,000 construction jobs and strengthen long-term water security in the Erongo Region.
Looking ahead, the chamber said, the short-term outlook remains moderately positive.
“While global markets are expected to remain volatile, Namibia‘s diversified mineral portfolio, stable inflation environment, and ongoing project pipeline continue to reinforce the mining sector’s central role in economic stability and fiscal health into 2026,” the report said.
