Fugitive killed by BiH police

SARAJEVO, FEB 12 — Edin Gacic, a suspect for the slaying of one person and a policeman, was killed on Tuesday in area of Kiseljak, a city located 34 kilometers northwest from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH’s) capital Sarajevo, the authorities said Tuesday.
The commissioner of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo Mevludin Halilovic told a press conference here that during the examination of the wider area around Kiseljak on Tuesday morning, police officers located the fugitive and opened fire after he did not want to surrender.
One police officer was slightly injured during the exchange of fire with Gacic.
Last Tuesday, Gacic, 42, allegedly killed a grocery store owner in Podorasac, a village located some 50 km southwest of the capital Sarajevo. Four days later, he was thought to kill a member of Federal Police Administration on duty.
For the past days, a total of 1,500 members of the Federal Police Administration have been mobilized for the search for the suspect.
Gacic was released from prison on July 26, 2017, after serving two-thirds of 20-year imprisonment. – XINHUA
