WINDHOEK, 02 JUL – Esperance Luvindao launched the video for her poem ‘Meme’ from her debut poetry album here on Saturday.
Her debut album ‘Etha’ which is Oshiwambo for “let go” was released in January this year.
The poet and final year medical student is fast making a name for herself, especially as she is the first poet in Namibia to have released a poetry album and now, a poetry video.
Speaking to Nampa on Sunday, Esperance said her mission is to take poetry to a whole new level. With her video for ‘Meme’, she is not only bringing poetry to her audience through speakers, but now also through the screen.
The thought-provoking rhyming poem was inspired by her late mother, who died when she was just six years old.
“To me, my mother was perfect and I’ll always have her in my heart,” said Esperance.
She added that the poem is also for everyone who has lost a loved one.
“It is the most painful thing one can through and the healing process is never complete,” she said.
The poet started writing poetry when she was 12 years old.
Esperance had her first one-man show in 2015.
“I have grown as a poet, I definitely believe I’m on an artistic high and I’m not stopping any time soon.”
Esperance recited ‘Meme’ in a room full of family, friends and fans before screening the video.
