Debmarine Namibia Cup Round of 32 fixtures drawn

WINDHOEK, 16 MAR  – The draw for the Debmarine Namibia Cup Round of 32 on Thursday pitted some “smaller” teams against elite teams.
The competition that is run by the Namibia Football Association (NFA) started with elimination round matches in February before moving to Round 32 in March.
The much-anticipated draw for one of Namibia’s most lucrative cup competitions took place in Windhoek, with the competition scheduled to be played in Tsumeb, Windhoek, Mariental, Walvis Bay and Gobabis on 24 and 25 March 2018.
In the Round of 32, some of the most notable fixtures will see Namibia Premier League (NPL) outfits like Citizens Football Club (FC) taking on Young Chiefs, Tura Magic taking on Mighty Gunners and defending champions, Young African, taking on Black Africa.

North-East First Division Winner vs UNAM. The North-East First Division elimination matches will be played in Rundu over the weekend.
The winner between Omaheke NamPol and Swallows will face African Stars. This match (Omaheke NamPol vs Swallows) will be played at Gobabis’ Legare Stadium on Saturday at 15h00.
The times and order of the Round of 32 matches, plus the venues will be confirmed in due course by the NFA.
Speaking at the draw, Debmarine Namibia Senior Financial Manager Willy Mertens noted their commitment to football and how they want to meet Government halfway in solving unemployment in the country.
He also announced that due to Namibia’s current difficult financial situation, the prize monies for teams and players in the competition will remain the same.
There will be Man of the Match awards from the Round of 16 to the final, with N.dollars 1 000 which will increase to N.dollars 1 500 in the quarter-finals, then N.dollars 2 000 in the semi-finals and N.dollars 5 000 in the final match.
Mertens said winners of the Man of the Match awards will select a charity of their choice that will receive the equivalent amount.
Teams competing in the Round of 32 will each receive N.dollars 20 000 to prepare for their matches.
The two teams that reach the final will each receive N.dollars 30 000 to prepare for the title-deciding match on 26 May.
