Beijing/ Washngton, July 31 — Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu paid a two-day visit to the United States from July 22 to 23 at the invitation of the U.S. side, where he held a series of high-level meetings aimed at strengthening communication between the two countries.
According to China’s Foreign Ministry, Ma held consultations with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, met White House National Security Council Senior Director for Asia Ivan Kanapathy, and U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby. He also exchanged views with members of both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
The two sides held in-depth discussions on implementing the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state and promoting a constructive strategic stability relationship between China and the United States.
The visit comes as Beijing and Washington continue efforts to maintain dialogue despite differences over trade, technology, security and regional issues. Both sides have recently emphasized the importance of keeping communication channels open to manage disagreements and promote stability in bilateral relations.( Namibia Daily News/ CCTV)
