WINDHOEK, 24 JUN – The Bank of Namibia (BoN) Thursday and Friday hosted its annual economic reporting workshop, aimed at helping journalists with the practical tools to navigate through and report on financial reports and publications effectively.
BoN Deputy Governor, Ebson Uanguta said during the opening of the workshop on Thursday, the bank expected the two days to represent a professional investment and to sharpen journalists’ skills in business and economic reporting.
He said it was the bank’s belief that when journalists grasp financial and economic issues and concepts, they would be able to ask the right questions and get the correct answers.
Additionally, journalists also learned the behind-the-scenes operations of the bank in executing its mandate to monitor and supervise money supply in the economy, the banking system in Namibia and various legal frameworks.
Uanguta added that both the central bank and the media had the responsibility to educate and inform Namibians from all walks of life on economic and financial issues in the country.
“This workshop therefore, is an excellent platform to assist you, our able media practitioners to perform your function of informing and educating effectively through the provision of relevant content and information,” he said.
