KEETMANSHOOP, 12 JUL – A 29-year-old man accused of murdering a 39-year-old man here in May this year, was granted bail when he made his second appearance in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
The accused, Benny Pieters appeared before Magistrate Murray Shikongo, who granted him bail of N.dollars 2 500 on condition that he reports himself to the investigating officer at the Keetmanshoop police station every Friday between 09h00 and 17h00. If he fails to do so, a warrant of arrest will be issued.
During the court hearing, Pieters informed the court that his legal aid application was not yet approved.
Shikongo then postponed the case to 20 August 2018 for further police investigations and finalisation of the legal aid application.
The State was represented by Marlon Adams.
Pieters is accused of stabbing Moses Uapingathana in the chest with an okapi knife at Day and Night Shebeen in the TransNamib residential area on the night of 12 May. Uapingathana died on the spot.
