SHOCKING: 12 men suspected of abusing 14-year-old girl in Malawi

CHIKWAWA, Malawi, Feb. 27 — A 14-year-old girl from Malawi’s southern district of Chikwawa is admitted to a local hospital after a gang of 12 men descended on her and allegedly abused her on Tuesday evening.
Police spokesperson for the district, Foster Benjamin, confirmed the case on Wednesday saying it occurred in a remote village when the girl was coming from a grocery shop, where her grandmother had sent her to buy some stuff.
Benjamin said 6 of the 12 suspected criminals have been arrested while the rest are on the run.
He told the local media that the criminals left the girl weak and unconscious and that when she regained conscious she crawled back to the road where well-wishers took her home.
The matter was reported to the village head who mobilized members of the community who hunted the suspects down and managed to apprehend 6 of them.
The girl has sustained serious injuries in her genital area and, according to Benjamin, she would require serious counseling as she is psychologically affected.
Meanwhile, the police have assured the general public that they will net and bring to book the remaining six suspects. – XINHUA
