Walvis Bay, 25 July – A group of five armed robbers attacked a service station manager and a colleague and snatched a bag containing N$49 000 this morning (Monday).
Erongo police confirmed the incident which took place at the junction of Rikumbi Kandanga Avenue and Theo-Ben Gurirab Street next to Bank Windhoek’s main Branch, Walvis Bay.
According to the police, the 34-year-old manager of the Puma Service station in Rikumbi Kandanga Avenue was being accompanied by his colleague on foot from the service station to deposit money at the Bank Windhoek branch, when five suspects armed with pangas and knives came out of a white Toyota Quest with a fake reg. no. N 25801 WB, and attacked them, snatched the bag of money and jumped back into the vehicle, and drove off.
According to the police, the manager sustained slight injuries during the attack.
Police are appealing to members of the public to assist with information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects.
