WINDHOEK, 25 JUL – The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) has confirmed that Alina Kakehongo, the victim of a murder-suicide in Windhoek on Wednesday, opened a case of assault against her killer.
NamPol’s Head of Media Relations, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi said she opened a case of assault through threatening against Samuel Shali Nghihepa, who was her ex-boyfriend, on Tuesday.
Responding to Nampa’s enquiries on reports circulating on social media that Kakehongo had opened a case, Shikwambi said she did so at the Otjomuise Police Station.
Nghihepa, 28, allegedly shot Kakehongo, 24, at a shop in Windhoek West before turning the gun on himself, shooting and killing himself on the spot.
It is alleged that she ended their relationship, which Nghihepa found difficult to accept.
It is further reported that he insisted that they get back together, but Kakehongo was unwilling to do so, which allegedly angered him.
Their next of kin are informed and police investigations continue.
