WINDHOEK, 30 APR – A man believed to be between the ages of 30 and 40 allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death on Friday before jumping into a well, where he drowned at the Amaupa village in the Omusati Region.
According to a crime report issued on Monday by the Namibian Police Force, the stabbing incident happened at about 13h00.
“The woman, between the age of 30 and 35, was found lying in a pool of blood,” said the report, referring to the stomach stab wound sustained by the victim.
The report said the two were Angolan nationals employed as domestic workers at the village. The motives for the alleged murder and apparent suicide are still unknown, and police investigations into the matter continue.
The deceased’s next of kin have not been informed yet.
In a separate incident, a 47-year-old woman from the Nongozi village in Katima Mulilo of the Zambezi Region died after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband on Thursday at about 17h00.
Arina Lifasi succumbed to her injuries at the Katima Mulilo State Hospital on Friday.
Her next of kin have been informed.
The suspect, who is an Angolan national, has not yet been arrested and police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the body of 28-year-old Ian van Wyk from Farm Naruxas, 25 kilometres outside Rehoboth, was found hanging from a tree on Sunday midnight.
The report said no suicide note was left. His family members have been informed of his death.
