REHOBOTH, 18 JUL – A man accused of stabbing his cousin to death at Gochas on 24 March this year, made his third appearance in court at Gochas on Tuesday, where his case was postponed to 15 August 2018 for further investigations.
Willem Kooper, 24, appeared before Magistrate Verinao Kamahene on a charge of murder.
The case was on the roll for finalisation of the accused’s Legal Aid application.
It is alleged that the victim, 28-year-old Andries Kooper, died after allegedly being stabbed by the accused at their home in the Hei-eib residential area. The accused was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when he got home and started arguing with the victim.
Kooper made his first appearance on 26 March and was denied bail on the grounds of public interest and the matter being in the infant stages of investigation.
The accused on 23 May made his second appearance and the matter was postponed to 17 July for the Legal Aid application of the accused to be finalised.
He was represented in court on Tuesday by SC Garbers from Garbers and Associates on instruction of the Legal Aid department in the Ministry of Justice.
Kooper was denied bail and will remain in custody at the Gochas holding cells until his next court appearance.
Prosecutor Anita Likius represented the State.
