Pastor accused of raping minor boy denied bail

WINDHOEK, 26 OCT – A Windhoek pastor who stands accused of raping a minor boy in June this year was on Thursday been denied bail.
Jacobus Tjaveondja made his second appearance before Magistrate Olga Mutafela Likando in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court and his case was postponed to 13 February 2019 for witness statements and photo plan to be obtained.
The accused was denied bail on the grounds that he could interfere with investigations into the matter, which are not yet complete.
The accused may, however, lodge a formal bail application.
It is alleged that Tjaveondja, 65, on 28 July this year convinced a 16-year-old boy to go to his house located in the Soweto residential area between 20h00 and 22h00.
He then allegedly forcefully had sexual intercourse the minor. He was arrested on 30 August and was also denied bail on his first appearance in September.
