High-flying NUST FC extend winning form

WINDHOEK, 28 MAY  – Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) Football Club moved three points clear at the top of Khomas Second Division after collecting maximum points in rounds 16 and 17 played over the weekend.
The Bokkes as, as the team is affectionately known, defeated Golden Rivers 2-1 on Saturday with Ronaldo Vries and Geoffrey Shilongo finding the target, before dispatching Namib Colts by the same margin on Sunday through the boots of Pius Katupose and Simon ‘Disco’ Petrus.
NUST coach Ervin Haipumbu on Monday said he is happy with how the players are implementing their game-plan to win the matches and that they made sure to attack in both games from the word go.
He further said they picked up from where they left off in the first leg and that the team is destined for greatness if they can retain their fighting spirit for the remainder of the season.
“We don’t mind who we play as we take each game like it is our last final. It is hard work, sacrifice and perseverance paying off. We are busy with exams but that does not stop us from getting the results we want and making sure we deliver for the team and our fans in general,” Haipumbu remarked.
In other matches played on Saturday, City Boys defeated Impala Chiefs 1-0, while Young Ones beat Rock Stones 3-2.
Eleven Champions beat Namib Eagles 3-2 with rookies Swallows inflicting a 2-0 defeat on Namib Colts.
Java Java’s winless streak continued after they were beaten 4-1 by Kingston United.
On Sunday, Impala Chiefs collected three points after beating Kingston United 2-1. While Namib Eagles defeated Falcon 3-2.
Eleven Champions also collected their sixth point of the weekend after winning 2-0 against Rock Stones with Swallows continuing where they left off on Saturday, beating City Boys 2-0, with Golden Rivers winning 2-1 against Young Ones.
Afrika Rassap handed down another hammering to Java Java, beating them 4-1.
