WINDHOEK, Aug. 29 — As the national women’s soccer team gets ready for the upcoming COSAFA tournament that will take place in South Africa its dependable captain has withdrawn.
Brave Gladiators captain Zenatha Coleman withdrew from the team for the 2022 Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women’s Championship.
The tournament is to start on 31 August 2022 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at Gqebeha in South Africa.
Coleman took to her social media page where she wrote: “It always my honour to represent my beloved country, 2 years ago I flew in from Spain arriving on the day of the match. I waited (for) 4 hours to be picked up by the organizers of NFA at the Hosea Kutako Airport. I arrived 3 hours prior to kick-off at the hotel, ate my lunch with no rest went to the field and scored 2 goals against Angola in a friendly match, but today with great sadness I’ve decided to withdraw from the COSAFA squad due to an issue of my ticket arriving late and I have to wait 8 hours in an airport. I wish the team and coaches all the best in the upcoming COSAFA tournament”.
The team is drawn in Group B of the tournament alongside Zambia, Lesotho and Eswatini and will open their Group B against Zambia on 1 September 2022 at 15h30 CAT.
