GABORONE, April 5 — Botswana will begin issuing electronic COVID-19 vaccination certificate services from this Wednesday, said a government official in a statement released on Tuesday.
The decision is in response to some countries in the region requiring electronic vaccination certificates for all travelers, many Batswana and residents have had to flock to the ministry headquarters’ offices for facilitation with the said electronic certificates, said Christopher Nyanga, Ministry of Health and Wellness spokesperson.
The electronic certificate will include a QR code, which allows officials at ports of entry to scan and access the traveler’s vaccination data. This contributes to the assurance that all vaccination certificates presented at ports of entry are genuine. (Xinhua)
