Blue Waters aiming for top 4 finish
REHOBOTH, 07 NOV – Walvis Bay glamour club, Blue Waters are hard at work to kick-start their campaign against newcomers, Young Brazilians in the upcoming Namibia Premier League (NPL) match in Karasburg this Saturday.
The blue and white outfit, referred to as Omeya (water) by their passionate fans survived the dreaded relegation axe by a whisker and is determined to turn around their fortunes this season.
Blue Waters assistant coach, Sheya Andimba told Nampa on Tuesday the team is ready to bring back the glory days of yesteryear.
“We’ve been preparing for the start of the league and are raring to go all the way and mentally and physically ready for the season. Our first game against Young Brazilians is away and we will try and overcome the challenge of playing on a gravel pitch; it is not an obstacle,” Andimba said.
He said Blue Waters aim for a top four finish, if not win the league and said the fans can expect exciting football.
“We have brought in some new players that will do the job for us and they have gelled in well with the old players during the pre-season,” Andimba noted.
Blue Waters won the NPL on four occasions, with their last being in 2004. They were relegated during the 2008-2009 league season and gained immediate promotion to familiar territories of the NPL the next season.
