WINDHOEK, MAY 19 – The well anticipated Namibia Basketball School League (NBSL), has kicked off its second leg of games. Following the school holidays, the league is back in action and with great action at that.

The games were played over the weekend as of Friday, 17th May 2019 to Saturday, 18th May 2019. Of the weekend’s competition, Friday’s games were played at the Katutura Youth Sports Complex.

Setting the tone for their U16 girls’ team who won Against Amazing Kids with a 38:10 Victory, the U14
girls had a prior win against the Van Rhyn School with a score of 20:0. Saturdays games were all played at the Chairman Mao Zedong High School in Otjomuise.

Windhoek International U14 girls continued their winning streak and scooped another win against People’s Primary School ending the game 20:0. Mandume Primary School U14 girls also take home a win with a 20:0
score against Gammams.

The Van Rhyn Boys of the U14 division took the win against Gammams Primary in a 20:0 game. The older divisions also served up some action with Khomas High School taking the win away from St. George’s ,winning 20:0. Dawid Bezuidenhout High School beat the U16 Boys from Amazing Kids 20:0.

The U19 boys division saw Windhoek International beat St. Georges 20:0. Immanuel Shifidi Secondary School girls team of the U19 age group won against Dawid Bezuidenhout, 103:15. In a nail biting game of the same age group, Academia High School boys, walked away winners against Khomas High in a 41:40 score to end the day on a high.

The league will have more games this coming week from Tuesday until Saturday this coming week. Weekday games begin from 14h30 and on weekends the games are from 9h00.

The NBSL is a league started is the first ever basketball league of its kind started in 2018. Run under the auspices of the Namibian Basketball Federation. The league attracts schools from the public and private sector
to compete in one of $ age group divisions, U11, U14, U16 or U19. Slowly growing, the league is one to watch out for in the basketball society and in the sports development of the country overall.
