Katima Mulilo, July 15.– A 33-year-old Zambian man was arrested on Thursday, 13 July in Katima Mulilo when he was found with 13 pieces of elephant tusks.
He was arrested in a joint sting operation by officials of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Tourism, special forces and the protected resources division of the Namibian Police in the Zambezi Region.
The suspect was found in possession of three elephant tusks, which he presented and offered for sale to an undercover officer.
The elephant tusks had been cut into 13 pieces.
The regional control warden Morgan Saisai confirmed the arrest and added that his team and other forces are hard at work and warned that no stone shall be left unturned, in bringing the poachers to book.
The suspect was expected to appear in court on Friday.
