Oshakati, July 20 — Two heartbreaking incidents of suicide have been reported in the Omusati region, specifically in the areas of Onesi and Ruacana on Tuesday.
In the first incident, 33-year-old Uunona Julius allegedly took his own life by hanging himself with a blue rope around his neck at Otjihitwa village. His lifeless body was discovered by children who were on their way to fetch water at the canal. The community members were immediately informed about the tragic discovery.
According to Omusati Crime Coordinator Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho, the deceased left a suicide note, and no foul play is suspected. The body has been taken to the Oshifo Police Mortuary and will undergo a postmortem examination at the Okahao Police Mortuary to determine the exact cause of death.
In the second incident, 22-year-old Magdalena Nashilongo Asser was found at Onamambulaga village. Her lifeless body was discovered hanging from the roof of their sleeping room with a wire around her neck by her roommate. The deceased was last seen an hour before the tragic incident. No suicide note was found, and no foul play is suspected.
The body is currently at the Onesi Health Center’s mortuary and will also be transported to the Okahao Police mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Police investigations into both cases are ongoing as they try to understand and address these distressing situations.
