WINDHOEK, 21 APR – The 18th edition of the Omaruru Spar Cycle Race kicked off at 07h00 on Saturday.
A total of 255 athletes have registered for the competition, which will see cyclists participating in the 25 kilometre (km) fun race, the 60km race and the 106km elite race.
“We will have cyclists from Windhoek, the coast and the northern regions participating,” organiser Berthold Karumendu said earlier this week.
Ingram Cuff is the defending men’s champion and is back to defend his title.
He will however face stiff competition from Xavier Papo and Drikus Coetzee.
The organisers confirmed to Nampa that all was set for the race which takes place along the Omaruru-Kalkfeld road. The event is sanctioned by the Namibia Cycling Federation.
A total of N$ 45 000 is up for grabs for various age groups in the men’s and women’s sections.
