REHOBOTH, 23 MAY – The Rounds 1 and 2 of the North West Stream First Division (NWSFD) kicked off over the weekend at Oshikuku, Tsandi, Uukwangula and Ogongo, producing a total of 20 goals.
Confirming the results on Sunday League Administrator Lydia Hakandonga said the matches went well as there were no incidents reported with all teams turning up for their fixtures.
The league kick off was marred by teams threatening not to play their games due to unpaid start up fees, however the start-up fee of N$5 000 per team was paid on Thursday.
“All teams played their matches as scheduled and the league is now in fully operational,” Hakandonga said.
On Saturday in Pool A, Oshikuku Young Stars defeated Military School Soccer Club 2-0 in Oshikuku, while Onambula United and Golden Bees played to 1-1 draw at Tsandi.
Pool B saw Africa Motto beating African Lions 3-1 in Uukwangula while in another match University of Namibia (UNAM) Ogongo Football Club defeated Touch & Go from Outjo 2-0 at the Ogongo Stadium.
On Sunday Africa Motto collected another three points after defeating Touch & Go 2-1 in Uukwangula, with African Lions beating home team UNAM Ogongo by 1-0.
At Tsandi, Onambula United were held to another draw by Military School Soccer Club in a match that ended 2-2, while at Oshikuku, Golden Bees collected four points for the weekend after beating home team Oshikuku Young Stars 3-1.
