Man arrested for alleged rape of 12-year-old step-daughter

REHOBOTH, 03 SEP  – A 31-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping his 12-year-old minor step-daughter in Rehoboth’s Block E location.
The Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator in the Hardap Region, Deputy Commissioner Eric Clay told Nampa on Monday that the incident occurred at about 21h30 in Block E.
“It is alleged that the 31-year-old suspect unlawfully and intentionally had sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old victim and threatened to strangle and kill her. The suspect fell asleep after raping the victim and she fled from the scene and informed her aunt,” Clay said.
He said the aunt then alerted the police and the suspect, a stepfather of the victim, was arrested.
Clay further said the mother of the victim was not at home at the time of the incident.
The suspect is set to appear at the Rehoboth Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
