SWAKOPMUND, May 23 – A 34-year-old Namibian man was killed instantly near Wlotzkasbaken in the early hours of Monday morning when the vehicle he was driving collided with a grader parked near roadworks.
According to the MVA report provided by Inspector Ileni Shapumba, the deceased, identified as Patrick Khein, was allegedly driving a white Opel Corsa near Wlotzkasbaken, with four passengers, when they came across a section of road under construction on the Henties Bay-Swakopmund road. After successfully passing the road crossing signboards, he was involved in a collision with a grader parked next to the road and died instantly. The accident occurred at 00h53 and the four passengers, who escaped with serious injuries, were rushed to Swakopmund State Hospital for medical treatment.
Next of kin of the deceased were informed and his body transported to the Walvis Bay police morgue for an autopsy
Cases of culpable homicide and reckless and/or negligent driving have been filed.
