WINDHOEK, JULY 16 – While the 2018 FIFA World Cup has come to an end, soccer matches continue at the 2018 FNB Classic Clashes with De Duine having won 5:4 with penalties against their visitors, Namib High School this past weekend.
The whole first half saw a balanced match with both teams being on alert and playing well and the first half ended on a goalless note. In the second half De Duine notched up their game but it was Namibia High School’s Oubaas Gaeseb who scored the first point by putting a ball in the back of the net. The game ended 1:1 at the full-time whistle but after the penalty shoot-out hosts De Duine were victorious. Victoria Mutilifa of De Duine was crowned Aquasplash Hero and Nick Daniels of Namib High School the FNB Classic Clash Man of the Match.
Nick Daniels: “My team performed very well. We prepared by playing lots of friendly games with Swakopmund Secondary School. I would like to thank FNB Namibia and Aquasplash for sponsoring us and for helping young people to come to such an event and play soccer. Thank you for your contribution towards the school and the players as well.”
More soccer will be played on 21 July between SI BGobs and Kuisebmond in Omaruru, as well as on 27 July and 28 July when Ongha and Nehale Secondary School and Okatana and Haudano Secondary School meet in Ongha and Okatana respectively. The last netball game will be played this coming Wednesday, 18 July between Wennie du Plessis and Gobabis Gymnasium. – NDN Staffer
