ONGWEDIVA, 09 MAY – A case of theft of money was registered with the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshana Regional on Monday, after a business at the Rural Development Centre in Ongwediva was broken into over the weekend.
Confirming the theft on Tuesday, Chief Inspector Petrus Iimbili said unknown persons broke into the business and stole more than N$90 600, including mobile phone recharge vouches valued at N$970.
According to Iimbili, the incident occurred between Saturday and Sunday.
“It is alleged that unknown suspects cut the roof of the business next to the alarm device, disconnected the alarm and entered the business through the hole they made,” Iimbili explained.
After accessing the building, the suspects than cut open a window to a room where they cut open the safe in which the money was kept.
“The suspects might know where the alarm device was and they were familiar with the surroundings.”
No one has yet been arrested as of Tuesday and NamPol investigations into the matter are continues.
