WINDHOEK, APRIL 25 – On the 24th April, Huawei Namibia donates N$50 000 to the upcoming human rights campaign to be known as ‘THE JOURNEY.’ The journey is a human rights campaign in the form of visual and performing arts exhibition that takes place from 12-14 June 2019 Parliament Gardens in Windhoek.
It is hosted under the theme ‘My voice , Our power , Our healing.
Chairperson of the National Council of Namibia Margaret Mensah-Williams spoke at the handover of the cheque by Huawei Managing Director Wallace Yin saying the donation was evidence that Huawei Namibia is a socially responsible telecommunications company that is always ready to give back to worthy social causes in Namibia.
Mensah-Williams said that although ‘THE JOURNEY’ had already received support from various United Nations agencies, local NGOs, corporates, including Huawei, as well as individuals who want to volunteer their expertise and participate in one way or another, more still could be done.
“We still call on corporate Namibia to support The Journey financially as we have not yet reached our fundraising target,” she said.
She also called up on artists , singers, musicians to come on board and make ‘THE JOURNEY’ the spectacle they aim for it to be.
