WINDHOEK, Feb. 5 – Namibia Women’s table tennis team managed to win Bronze at the AUSC Region 5 Championship meet that was held from 25 to 28 January in Botswana.

Namibia sent men’s and ladies’ team to participate at a competition dominated by South Africa who won all the gold medals on offer with Angola playing 2nd fiddle.

It was a fierce affair especially in the men’s category and team captains Heiko Fleidl and Bregida George did an excellent job in keeping their teams motivated and focused.

However the ladies team, despite lack of experience at international level, proved a force to be reckoned with as they shared bronze with the host nation Botswana. The men’s team had to settle for 6th place, albeit winning a number of individual matches against strong competition.
