Woman accused of killing man in Okuryangava denied bail

WINDHOEK, 11 SEP – A 19-year-old woman accused of killing her boyfriend in the Okuryangava residential area in Windhoek on Friday, was on Monday denied bail by the Katutura Magistrate’s Court.
Hannely Karukua appeared before Magistrate Johannes Shuuveni for allegedly stabbing Thomas Alweendo Nicolas, 25, with a knife.
Idda Hertha Itembu, who represented the state, objected to bail due to the serious nature of the offence and the fact that investigations are still at an infant stage.
The case was postponed to 04 December 2018 to allow for further investigations.
It is alleged that an argument erupted between the two on the day of the incident, and that Nicolas assaulted Karukua.
Karukua then stabbed the deceased on the left side of the neck, killing him instantly.
An unidentified assailant then stabbed Karukua before fleeing the scene.
Without providing more details, spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi told Nampa on enquiry Tuesday the suspect who stabbed Karukua was arrested on Sunday in Katutura. – NAMPA
