ONGWEDIVA, 11 MAY – Visually impaired Iita Noa is determined to establish a home for unwanted children and babies at Okahao in the Omusati Region in the near future.
To put his dream into reality, Noa last month registered his Tukwatha Babies’ Association under which the planned home will be administered.
Speaking to Nampa via telephone on Thursday, he said his association is registered and approved by the Ministry of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development.
“I thought of the child home in August last year after I realised that so many newborn babies are continuously dumped by their young mothers mercilessly,” Noa stated.
He added that it will also be a home for vulnerable children.
Noa said he is always touched emotionally when hearing of a new-born baby dumped or child roaming the streets because there is no parent to properly look after such a child.
“Hence it is my dream to have a house for vulnerable children at Okahao, in my home region, Omusati.”
However, Noa pointed out that the establishment of the said home depends on sponsorships, as his association has no funds to do it alone.
“I appeal to companies, non-government organisations, businesses and individuals to sponsor the association so that we can provide shelter for unwanted babies and vulnerable children.”
He also pointed out that his association is consulting with the co-founder of the Affirmative Repositioning Movement, Job Amupanda, to officially launch his association at Okahao on 04 August this year.
Noa is also the manager of the Dr Kalumbi Shangula Football Club at Etilyasha in the Omusati Region’s Otamanzi Constituency.
Last year he announced that he wants to enter a boxing ring if a fellow visually impaired is ready to challenge him.
