KARUKUTA, AUG. 19 – Despite qualifying for the Namibia Football Association’s second division next season, Gumma FC was brought down to earth in the semi-finals of the Petrus Kavhura Cup played over the weekend at Karukuta village of Ndonga-Linena Constituency in Kavango East, suffering a 3 – 2 defeat at the hands of Brave Fighters of Rucara.
Rucara Brave Fighters, with a legion of supporters on their side, will face Makandu Young Stars FC in the final. Makandu Young Stars, who hail from the Ndonga-Linena Green schemes, beat their neighbour Powers Stars FC of Shikenge 2 – 1 in a derby.
According to the chairperson of Petrus Kavhura Cup (PKC) Mr Poulus “Ngula” Haingura, the tournament “is going smoothly as planned as its main aim is to develop sport at the rural areas.”
Ngula told Namibia Daily News that on the final game, the media, sponsors and the Constituency Councilor will also be present, and that the date will be announced at a later stage.
“The committee will announce the date and venue for the final between Rucara Brave Fighters and Makandu Young Stars FC after consulting all relevant stake holders.”
The tournament is named after the youthful Constituency Councilor of Ndonga-Linena Constituency, and this year it was sponsored by Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) with 90 medals, soccer balls and tracksuits.
The Cup is played by teams in Ndonga-Linena, Ndiyona and Mashare Constituencies and was launched in 2016. – email@example.com
