Rehoboth attempted rape and robbery case postponed to September

REHOBOTH, 23 AUG  – A man arrested at Rehoboth for attempted rape and robbery in July this year made his fourth appearance in the Rehoboth Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, when his case was postponed to 03 September 2018.
sThe accused, Romario Jacobs, appeared before Magistrate Dina Kamboua and his case was postponed for him to acquire a State-funded lawyer.
It is alleged that Jacobs attempted to have sexual intercourse with an 18-year-old girl without her consent near the Burgershoek residential area in Rehoboth on 30 June this year.
He allegedly assaulted and threatened the victim before stealing her cellphone and N.dollars 20 and was arrested the same day.
During his first appearance on 02 July, Jacobs indicated that he would apply for legal representation, after which he was denied bail and the case was postponed to 02 August for formal bail application.
On 02 August, he was granted bail of N$1 500 and was warned not to contact the complainant or go near her workplace or home and the matter was postponed to 16 August for further police investigations. The case was however again postponed to 23 August.
